History of the Frisian Championship (FK)
The Frisian Fierljeppen Championship has been held in Winsum since 1957. For Fierljeppers, the FK is comparable to the Wimbledon of their sport: the event everyone works towards throughout the season and the most prestigious championship in Friesland.
From 1957 until 1985, the championship was held at a temporary venue on the Skรขns across the Sint Japik. Since 1985, the competition has taken place at the permanent Fierljeppen venue on the “Oer It Dok” sports complex.
